Theatre reckons with the Communist past. The answer to the memories of love and horror is etched into the plaster of prison cells. The production was based on period documents, texts, memories and destinies. The plot is largely inspired by the fate of Mons. Ján Podveský, convicted in connection with the Babice trials. His story was recorded by Jaroslav Sojka in the book My Friend, I Believed Then, Today I Have It All Substantiated. Bohumil Doubek, state security investigator who had been briefly imprisoned, provided a detailed insight into the practices of investigative bodies. He had written his extensive account as part of his defence statement. The production uses unique creative means – masks and puppets. The authors perceive the play as their coming to terms with the past and showing respect for the victims.
