Staging of the poems of Jan Brzechwa, one of Poland’s foremost poets (not only) for children. Using stage language, the creative team attempts to reveal their humour, emotions, astonishing punch, rhyme and rhythm.
Jan Brzechwa’s poems have always had incredible power. His great imagination and creativity shines through. They are recited by the youngest children who learn them by heart from their parents and grandparents. No wonder that Slovak stage director Marián Pecko came across this invaluable and multifaceted work while searching for the crème de la crème of Polish literature. As it turns out, poetry that has been popular in Poland for years. Everyone there knows poetry from childhood and reads to children and adults. This is not common in Slovakia. It is an additional reason to describe this artistic exploration as a stage “zoom to Brzechwa”.
