International panel discussion LEARNING THROUGH THEATRE. Speakers from Norway, Finland and Slovenia share good practice in learning through theatre within education. The event is also an opportunity to identify the current state of formal and informal cooperation between theatres and schools in the Czech Republic and Slovakia with guests from the Czech and Slovak context, and to explore the possibility of symbiosis between theatre and schools . In cooperation with the Theatre Institute in Bratislava. Consecutive interpreting is arranged for the event.

The Festival and the panel discussion are to stimulate a debate about the necessity to include art and theatre (including puppet theatre) in learning process in Slovakia. Theatre is not precisely identified in Slovak curricula as an artistic genre with a high potential for emotional and rational education. Our goal is to open for perpetuity the topics of cultural literacy that are linked to other currents of thought and endeavours in ecology, media education, etc.. Following the example of other European countries, we also wish to facilitate an opportunity for all children to visit theatre and stage performance, and provide them with deliberately conceived chances to develop cultural and theatrical literacy.

The panel discussion will be held under the auspices of the Theatre Institute in Bratislava, the Department of Culture and the Department of Education of the Banská Bystrica Self-Governing Region in Banská Bystrica.
