EDITORial

Hello. I am Ela for short – just like the one who has hidden light in her name. I hold Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Theory and Criticism from the Department of Theatre Studies, Faculty of Theatre of the VŠMU in Bratislava. I am continuing my Master’s studies in the same field at DAMU in Prague. Considering my studies so far, I prefer to think and write about theatre for different platforms. I seek utmost inspiration in fine specialist texts and stage plays, particularly those from the periods of realism, symbolism and the avant-garde. I also read and write impulsive poetry as a reflection of others and myself. I am starting to flirt, inter alia, with feminism, thanks to the thought-provoking productions by Iveta Škripková and Marián Pecko from the Puppet Theatre at the Crossroads in Banská Bystrica.

I am enrolled at the Department of Theatre Studies at the Faculty of Arts & Letters, Charles University in Prague. Currently I am entering the third year of my undergraduate studies. I enjoy theatre history and contemporary theatre. I am most interested in drama theatre. I like free time I spend by reading books, watching movies, meeting friends and walks in nature.

I pursue theatre studies at the Faculty of Arts & Letters, Charles University in Prague. I also go to theatres and then, off to pubs! I focus particularly on whatever may be the oddest I come across on stage to meet. Apart from that, I take pictures on analogue, write poetry and am officially Beer Brother. Theatre is in my blood. I don’t speak Slovak, but that doesn’t matter.

I am a producer at the Ukrainian puppet theatre Snail (Ravlyk in Ukrainian). I am theatre critic, having studied at DAMU. From the outset total war in Ukraine, I lived in the Czech Republic, where I worked in the Drak theatre and was editor with the Loutkář magazine. I have since returned to Ukraine, where I use the experience which I acquired in the Czech Republic. I promote Ukrainian culture through my work with the Ukrainian media Ukraїner.

I study aesthetics at the Faculty of Arts & Letters, Comenius University in Bratislava. I primarily focus on photography, but also have deep interest in folk culture in Slovakia. I was member of the student jury at the festival Nová dráma/New Drama what gave me deeper insight into the art of theatre. My work is not just a professional path to me, but also a way to express my passion and interest in culture.

graPHICS

I studied for six years in the “Graphics-Space-Synergy” Studio under the guidance of Associate Professor Robert Brun, academic painter, at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica. In my work, I focus primarily on expressing unspoken human emotions and fears, which are caused by the current global situation, as well as personal and even collective concerns. The key technique in my work is photogram. I dedicated my entire studies to it. To this day, I continue to develop this technique across various graphic media such as monotype, serigraphy, animation, painting, photography, object art, and body art.
